New Bike Day – Yeti SB6 Turq 2018

September 21, 2017March 13, 2018 rawepics

In the shadow of lofty Mount Timah...   ... a new Yeti roams. There’s a fresh bike in the house, built several ‘oldie but goodie’ components that survived the last iteration of the SB6 that I had been riding for more than 2 years. What lasts, lasts, - and stays on the bike, ‘a part… Continue reading New Bike Day – Yeti SB6 Turq 2018

Felt pretty good today in Kokanee, on Day 5 of the Trans BC Enduro @transbcenduro . Some seriously scary steeps on this one, even though it was a short day and the stages were relatively short too. Day 4 of the Trans BC Enduro @transbcenduro and there were 6 stages of fun to be had. Some near misses today including a big compression causing a chest-hump of my handlebars (i stayed on my bike), a forearm scrape from brush-pass of a tree at speed, and the most embarrassing of all, a pinky knuckle scrape when i punched a tree going uphill on a transfer stage! Was lucky i wore my elbow pads. and had ample head, body, limb, and hand protection. Focus, darn it | Day 3 of the Trans BC Enduro @transbcenduro done… and it was eventful. plagued by and trying to solve squeaky brake problems on the previous day, i had no idea it would play out in the form of me not paying attention to that evening’s race briefing (i was admittedly very distracted) and subsequently not knowing there was an extra timed stage added for today’s festivities 😢. So only doing 3 out of 4 stages - i have to tell it like it is - but the silver lining was that i genuinely felt good racing these stages (each one felt faster than the last!). i finally feel that i’m pushing this Yeti @yeticycles SB150 fast enough to justify its painstaking purchase more than 2 years ago. Kept it conservative and rubber side down today at Day Two of the Trans BC Enduro @transbcenduro here in Rossland. There were some high-speed segments contrasting with plenty of mandatory skinnies scattered about the 4 stages today… and of course the ubiquitous steeps. Important to stock up amply when presented with an aid station, and to admire the wildflowers and scenery on the brutal uphill transfer stages. Coming in almost last - due to a missed directional arrow | First update on the Trans BC Enduro @transbcenduro: 4 stages today, but going a bit longer than needed (i got lost between S1 and S2, adding an additional 6 km and at least 45mins to my overall time, and became one the stragglers for the day) and burning well over 2900 calories over 7 hours. Assembly time at Trans BC Enduro @transbcenduro , arguably the world’s toughest multi-day blind MTB enduro currently. Megan puts on such an awesome series of events - this one, as well as the Trans NZ and Trans Tasmania - that it would be unthinkable for me to not support them, whether as a volunteer staff or as a participant. “I’m not here any more” An exciting update that ties in with our impending overseas stint in Canada 🇨🇦 for work skills upgrading and recert’ commitments at PMBIA @pmbiassociation and for WFR (Wilderness First Responder) certification respectively. Just a friendly reminder to whet your appetite for overseas trails and fun times on your MTB! Please join us in-person at Shimano Cycling World at Kallang Wave Mall… but if you can’t, jump on the livestream of the presentation here on IG and keep up with us as we show-and-tell about our wonderful experiences… and how you can be a part of the next one.
